About Me

Matina (Mattie) Diane Trigo

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Supervisor: Dr. Bob Moody  (PSY 10974)

My therapeutic journey began many years ago as a teen learning how to navigate through life and relationships peacefully. I spent a good amount of time reading and learning about human behavior and found that it was a passion of mine. In the beginning of college I studied Environmental Horticulture and found that studying and working with plants brought a sense of peacefulness and fulfillment to my life. (You will see this application frequently in my sessions.) After receiving my Associates Degree from Modesto Junior College, I went onto California State University Stanislaus and earned my Bachelors of Arts inSociology. While working on my BA I started working for an Early Intervention program working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In this work I developed a true understanding of Applied Behavioral Analysis.

After getting married and becoming pregnant with my first child, I built a Gentle Sleep Coaching business and used the Applied Behavioral Analysis skills I developed and applied them to children sleep and common behavioral issues. I was again reinforced that therapy was my calling and entered Graduate School for my Master’s Degrees in Counseling at Palo Alto University. Before starting a private practice setting, I worked for several community mental health practices seeing a variety of clients. I was lucky enough to have a supervisor who was highly trained in Mindfulness and Adlerian Therapy and frequently shared his knowledge. I have continued developing my skills in this area as I believe these orientations have something to offer everyone.

Aside from therapy, I am a portrait photographer and practice yoga frequently. I enjoy spending time outside in the garden or camping with my family. I am also a self proclaimed foodie and when I am not working you can usually find me in the kitchen.
