How I conceptualize the presenting problem.

I use the core ideas of Adlerian Therapy  to conceptualize my client's presenting problems. Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented, and positive psychodynamic theory based on the theories of Alfred Adler—a one-time colleague of Sigmund Freud. Adler focused much of his research on feelings of inferiority versus superiority, discouragement, and a sense of belonging in the context of one’s community and society at large. According to Adler, feelings of inferiority can result in neurotic behavior but, in the right setting, can also be used as motivation to strive for greater success. Adlerian therapy focuses on the development of individual personality while understanding and accepting the interconnectedness of all humans.

Techniques I use to treat the presenting problems.

"When you first become aware of something, there is a fleeting instant of pure awareness just before you conceptualize the thing, before you identify it. That is a state of awareness..... That flowing, soft-focused moment of pure awareness is mindfulness."

— from Mindfulness in Plain English, by Bhante H. Gunaratana

I am a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapist. I use a variety of evidence based techniques to help the client process their problems and develop new, healthy, and sustainable ways of managing their symptoms. Understanding an issue is multifascited; I use a Holistic approach. This means that I address the whole person, including their physical, mental, and emotional health, while taking social factors into consideration.

Treatment plans are very client specific however, you can expect some of the following techniques in treatment.

  • CBT
  • Family Systems
  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation
  • Art Therapy

  • Yoga Therapy
  • Bach Flower Remedies
